Mayor Names Master P New Orleans ‘Entertainment Ambassador’ Ahead Of Super Bowl LIX.
The Super Bowl will be hosted in New Orleans next year and The City’s Mayor, LaToya Cantrell has named Percy “Master P” Miller as her new “entertainment ambassador,” enlisting the hip-hop mogul from the city’s Calliope projects to help promote New Orleans culture before a global audience.
During a news conference last Friday in Gallier Hall, with Master P standing by the mayor’s side, Cantrell and her staff had few details about the new position and did not answer questions after the announcement.
The mayor said Miller’s job would essentially be to promote New Orleans art and culture to an audience beyond the Crescent City in the coming months.
Cantrell called Miller a true “son of New Orleans.”
“He’s deserving of all the love, all the praise, for demonstrating the resiliency of this community and that there’s no limit to accomplishing great things for the city of New Orleans,” Cantrell said.
Master P said he was grateful for the chance to work with city officials to uplift other New Orleans-born artists.
“I was able to grow up in the projects and change my life,” he said during the news conference with Cantrell. “I want more for the city of New Orleans.”
