Drake’s Scorpion Went Platinum on Release Day

According to the Recording Industry of Association of America (RIAA)’s website, the project was certified platinum on June 29, the day it dropped. That means Scorpion moved at least one million equivalent units in the U.S. in a single day. As a point of comparison, Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys was certified platinum four days following its release.

The album also broke Spotify’s opening day global record, earning over 130 million total streams within the day. The record also charted at No. 1 in its first day on Apple Music, and broke the single-day streaming record on Amazon Music Unlimited as well.
