BMG songwriter Pitbull has set a Guinness World Record alongside his devoted fans, the ‘Baldies,’ for hosting the largest-ever gathering of people wearing bald caps. An astounding 22,141 people in bald caps gathered on Friday, July 10 ahead of his performance at BST Hyde Park to break the record.
After several tours of Baldies showing up to his concerts in droves, Pitbull announced earlier this year that he was setting out to turn the fun tradition into an official record.
Pitbull said of the accomplishment, “I’m speechless at this point, but I can tell you this much: I say it to the Baldies all the time at the shows, when ya’ll put on them bald caps you know you’re about to have the time of your lives! And now you’re officially in the Guinness Book of World Records. Dale!”
The feat also broke the record for most-attended gig ever in Hyde Park, with nearly 70,000 attendees at Pitbull’s concert. Fans also tuned in to the three hour livestream that featured fan interviews, behind-the-scenes access and live commentary before Pitbull received his official award, presented by BBC Radio 1 host Greg James.
