Today, Los Angeles-based artist MoRuf shares new single “Busy” as a taste of a larger project to come. First emerging on the scene in 2010 with his debut album Garden State of Mind: Ready To Live, an ode to his home state of New Jersey, MoRuf maintains the same verve that first gained him notoriety in the underground alternative rap and R&B scenes of the Tristate Area while also making room for newly minted sounds. The new visual delivers a Joshua Kissi-directed music video that speaks to his artistic evolution and robust vision for the future.
Speaking on the track’s significance he shares: “Being ‘Busy’ doesn’t mean progress is always being made. You can be as busy as you want and end up at the same exact spot you started at. Anyone is capable of doing so…but being ‘Busy’ with #intention is truly life changing. Giving a sense of direction while allowing you to execute your vision that much more efficiently. Recharge…Plan…Execute #StayBusy🔋💪🏿✨”
Hailing from Irvington, New Jersey, MoRuf embarked on a transformative journey when he moved with his small family to Los Angeles in November 2023, aiming to unveil his higher artistic self. His latest EP, Tiny Mic Raps Series, offers a glimpse into his diverse range, blending battle rap roots with captivating visuals. Each track features freestyles over his favorite beats into a tiny microphone, elevated by visualizers directed by some of the best directors around, including Joshua Kissi, David Freemans, and Joe Kenneth. The new single “Busy” signifies a fresh chapter in MoRuf’s career, having already opened for countless artists like Saba, SZA, Little Simz, and performed with Jesse Boykins III.
