Chicago singer, songwriter, and audio engineer Sherrionn returns with the official video for “Way Up,” a standout from her debut mixtape, Honey Trap, out now via Young Chop’s Chop Squad Records.

More than a traditional music video, “Way Up” serves as a visual diary of Sherrionn’s journey so far. Piecing together footage from different stages of her life and career a la Kanye West’s “Through the Wire,” the raw, documentary-style visual moves from childhood clips to long nights in the studio, touring, performing and candid moments on the road. Rather than recreating the grind for the camera, the video pulls from moments that actually happened, giving viewers an intimate look at the years of work behind where she is today.

 

 

Within Honey Trap, “Way Up” becomes both a reflection on Sherrionn’s journey and a statement of where she intends to go next. The scrapbook-like visual highlights her ambition and work ethic while showing her progression in real time, pairing the record with a personal archive of the experiences that have shaped her along the way.

The video arrives following a milestone stretch for the Chicago native. Sherrionn recently joined Yung Bleu on the We All Need Therapy Tour, made a cameo in his “Mercedes” video, delivered a standout hometown performance at Lollapalooza, and now prepares for an intimate hometown showcase in collaboration with SoFar Sounds on October 9th in Chicago.

A graduate of Tribeca Flashpoint’s Audio Engineering and Recording Arts program, Sherrionn has approached her career with a hands-on understanding of both the creative and technical sides of music. Before signing with Young Chop’s Chop Squad Records, she built an audience through covers, remixes, live music reviews, and original content while independently developing her sound. With “Way Up,” that history becomes part of the visual itself: connecting where Sherrionn started, the work she has put in, and where she is headed next.
