Chicago singer, songwriter, and audio engineer Sherrionn returns today with her debut mixtape, Honey Trap, available now via Young Chop’s Chop Squad Records. The release comes alongside the official visual for “Slow,” and follows her standout hometown debut at Lollapalooza and the success of her breakout single “Body,” capping off a milestone summer for the Chicago native.

 

 

Directed by Diego, the visual was filmed across several of Chicago’s car club gathering spots on the city’s West and South Sides, featuring members of local crews including Chi Wrangler Crew, one of the city’s longstanding car clubs known for hosting community events and giving back throughout Chicago. More than a visual backdrop, the car clubs offer a deeper look into one of Chicago’s most recognizable pockets of culture, while “Slow” pairs the mixtape’s themes of confidence and self-assurance with crisp choreography, bold styling, and a distinctly Chicago setting. “Slow” showcases another side of Sherrionn’s artistry while expanding on the world introduced throughout Honey Trap.

 

Across Honey Trap, Sherrionn blends bass-heavy production, assisted by Th3 Ink Factory, soulful melodies, sharp songwriting, and unmistakable Chicago influence into a body of work rooted in both classic and modern R&B. Standout records including “Still,” “Slow,” and the breakout single “Body” explore the balance between sweetness and edge, confidence and vulnerability, polish and grit.

The mixtape caps off a busy summer for the Chicago native. In addition to joining Yung Bleu on the We All Need Therapy Tour, Sherrionn made a cameo in Yung Bleu’s “Mercedes” video, stopped by Power 92 to discuss Honey Trap, and delivered a standout performance at Lollapalooza, introducing her music to one of her biggest hometown crowds to date.

A graduate of Tribeca Flashpoint’s Audio Engineering and Recording Arts program, Sherrionn approaches music with a hands-on understanding of both the creative and technical sides of the process. Before signing with Young Chop’s Chop Squad Records, she built an audience through covers, remixes, live music reviews, and original content on TikTok while independently developing the sound that now defines Honey Trap.

Raised between Chicago and the south suburbs, Sherrionn’s relationship with music began early. Her mother was a vocalist and dancer, while her father was a signed rapper in the 1990s, giving her a musical foundation rooted in both melody and rhythm. She later refined her performance skills through show choir competitions, became involved with Donda’s House, and earned a degree in Audio Engineering and Recording Arts from Tribeca Flashpoint in 2019.

After spending time in Atlanta expanding her sound and perspective, Sherrionn returned to Chicago with renewed focus and a sharper artistic vision. With Honey Trap, she continues carving out a lane that merges soulful R&B and street-rooted energy into something distinctly her own.
