do+pe = no country for old men, the new collaboration between The Doors’ John Densmore and Public Enemy’s Chuck D, premieres the official music video for “every tick tick tick” today. Created by producer and director David “C-Doc” Snyder, the video transforms Chuck D’s original illustrations featured in the album’s vinyl packaging into animated sequences.
Selected as Record Store Day’s Song of the Year, the track is the first song to be released off of their forthcoming album, do+pe = no country for old men, which will be available digitally on May 22. A limited-edition vinyl in a special oxblood docs transparent high-melt pressing housed in a deluxe gatefold featuring Chuck D’s artwork was previously released on April 18, Record Store Day, a full-circle moment for the icons who first met at a RSD event in 2014.
A year later, Chuck D reached out to Densmore with an intriguing message: “You’ve got the beats, I’ve got the rhymes, let’s make do+pe,” sparking a cross-generational exchange rooted in musical legacy and creative curiosity. The result is a collaboration that defies genres and eras, bringing the driving beat of rock together with the rhythmic urgency of hip-hop. do+pe = no country for old men is part spoken word and part social commentary, built around the concept that “everybody gets older, but not everybody gets elder,” a lyric that evolved into the thematic core of the album.
