GloRilla Launches a Platform For On-Demand Beauty Services.

GloRilla is stepping into tech with an app designed to connect clients with verified hairstylists, makeup artists and nail technicians. She launched the app in Atlanta over the weekend at Buckhead Art and Company.

“I’m so excited, I’m super excited,” GloRilla said about the new venture. “Think about it every day. I dream about it.” GloRilla says the idea for GloVerse grew out of her own experiences after her music career took off and she began traveling from city to city.

Finding reliable beauty professionals on the road wasn’t always easy.

“I’m always like, ‘I need a makeup artist in this city. Who do good hair and who does certain styles?’” she said. “It was nerveracking sometimes, and I would have to book whoever is available.”

That experience helped inspire an app intended to make the search easier. GloVerse aims to connect people of different races, genders and ages with beauty professionals, including hairstylists, makeup artists and nail technicians. The platform allows users to create a “Glow ID” and share their social media profiles as they connect with beauty professionals.

Beauty and technology aren’t the only new areas GloRilla is exploring. The rapper is also preparing to make her move into acting.

“I’m getting in my acting bag, so I’ve been reading my script,” she said.

GloRilla joked that she has been practicing her acting skills every morning by looking in the mirror and working on facial expressions.

“I be looking a mess. I’m trying, but I’m going to get it together,” she said with a laugh.

She’s also working on her sophomore album, adding another major project to an already busy schedule.

GloRilla’s entrepreneurial expansion comes after a rapid rise in music. The Memphis native went from working at Walmart to securing a record deal and becoming one of hip-hop’s most recognizable young stars. Her career has included collaborations with some of music’s biggest names, including the recent video from gospel artist Kirk Franklin.

Now, she says she wants to use the opportunities created by her success to help others find their own path — and their own glow.

The company plans to expand beyond the app, with beauty products expected to launch in the future. S: Atlanta 11
