A year on from its predecessor, Richmond, Virginia’s Fly Anakin releases his (The) Forever Dream: Night Shift project via Lex Records. The project builds on the foundation that Anakin, and executive producer Quelle Chris, laid with his (The) Forever Dream album, released in April 2025. The project is an extension of that album, with the duo playing the roles of late night radio show hosts throughout Night Shift, introducing 12 new original songs, including “Socks Over The Smoke Detector” featuring frequent collaborators Quelle Chris, $ilkMoney and Fatima, which Anakin released late last year. Alongside Quelle, the project features additional production from Dj Harrison, Child Actor, Graymatter and Shungu.

With the project’s release, Anakin is also sharing an animated music video for project track “Happiness” featuring $ilkMoney and Henny L.O.. The video draws inspiration from the world of the 90’s sitcom Martin, following a shadowy character on the run who commandeers Quelle’s radio show before going on the run.

 

 

The project arrives ahead of Anakin’s forthcoming tour dates alongside Domo Genesis in July, which includes shows in New York, Toronto, New Orleans, Houston, Denver and LA. Anakin and Domo will also be joined by T.F. on the tour and Young Roddy for the Houston and New Orleans dates.

Night Shift carries over Anakin’s incisive lyricism and Quelle Chris’ abstract, unpredictable production that the two of them combined on (The) Forever Dream, but widens the aperture to bring new collaborators like billy woods, NoGum Hundo and Domo Genesis. Anakin and Chris’ tight-knit collaborative community of the original returns on Night Shift as well, with $ilkMoney, bbymutha, Fatima, and Mutant Academy’s Henny L.O. all making contributions.

In Anakin’s prolific and technically consistent discography, (The) Forever Dream represents a newfound creative freedom for Anakin, working side-by-side with Quelle Chris to create some of the most experimental tracks he’s ever made through. Combining as a duo, their contrasting styles made them an idyllic match to create a bespoke sound that utilizes both of their strengths.
