GAMING CORNER: Esports Take Center Stage at BlizzCon 2026 + Debut of the Blizzard Classic Cup!

Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up for an action-packed esports showcase at BlizzCon® 2026, bringing elite competition, legendary players, and unforgettable moments to the global stage on September 12–13 at the Anaheim Convention Center. From the debut of an all-new tournament to the return of storied world championships with a total prize pool upwards of $1.2 million USD, BlizzCon is the ultimate destination for esports fans living in Anaheim and around the world.

This year’s programming sees the introduction of the Blizzard Classic Cup, a brand new, cross-title team competition celebrating the legacy, rivalries, and personalities that have helped define Blizzard Esports. Spanning Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft®: Remastered, StarCraft II, and Warcraft® III: Reforged, the Classic Cup features iconic players competing under captains Nick “Tasteless” Plott and Dan “Artosis” Stemkoski, with a $100,000 USD prize pool on the line. Every match counts in this fast-moving, points-based format, culminating in the champion team being crowned live on the BlizzCon stage.

In addition to the Classic Cup, BlizzCon 2026 brings back some of the biggest stages in competitive gaming:

  • World of Warcraft®: The Arena World Championship (AWC) and Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) return following a yearlong competitive journey that culminates at BlizzCon, with head-to-head speedrunning in MDI, Cross Region playoffs and the return of the China region in AWC, and a grand total of $600,000 USD prizing.
  • Overwatch® World Cup: Celebrating 10 years of Overwatch esports, the World Cup returns to BlizzCon with 30 teams battling through global qualifiers for international bragging rights.
  • Hearthstone® Masters Tour: Top competitors from the 2026 season advance through Masters Tour Championships, earning their place to compete live at BlizzCon for a $500,000 USD total prize pool.
