Is A$AP Rocky Looking To Purchase An English Football League Club?

According to a recent report from The Sun, A$AP Rocky is part of an investment group looking to complete the purchase of Tranmere, who have been under the stewardship of ex-FA chief Mark Palilos for a decade.

Palios, who became chairman and joint-owner of Tranmere in 2014, confirmed earlier this year that Rovers had launched a search for fresh investors to support the financial growth of the club and fund a new stadium after recording “widening” pre-tax losses.

It is claimed that the group is set to purchase 80 per cent of Tranmere for roughly £15 million ($20m), which would see Palios relinquish his controlling stake in the club.

Tranmere will likely require increased investment if they are to plot a potential promotion bid in the months or perhaps even years to come.

Instead, Tranmere have been forced to largely bide their time in mid-table and finished the previous season in 16th place. Indeed, that is exactly where they find themselves after eleven matches of the 2024/25 campaign, although Nigel Adkins’ side have recorded just one defeat from their last five league outings.

Donald Trump’s former lawyer Joe Tacopina is heading up the investment group that will produce the bid for the Birkenhead-based side. However, the EFL will need to decide if it fits into their parameters.

A source close to the pair explained: “Rocky is tight with Joe and has committed to the Tranmere bid. Joe has been to Tranmere matches and Rocky has plans to go over too after the deal is completed.

“We may even see Rihanna watching League Two football.”
