UPDATED: 9/7/2024: An autopsy was performed Friday on rapper Rich Homie Quan, but his cause of death won’t be given until further tests are completed, officials said.
Georgia’s Fulton County medical examiner said the examination had been completed a day after Quan, whose legal name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died in an Atlanta hospital at age 33.
“The cause and manner of death are pending the completion of laboratory studies and microscopic examination of tissue slides,” the medical examiner said.
It was not immediately clear when the tests would be done, but the process can take months.
UPDATE: Rich Homie Quan’s Father reflects on son’s life:
On Friday, September 6, Rich Homie Quan’s father took to his Instagram Story to share an emotional message about his son.
“Unbearable pain,” he wrote. “Lord please please please help me to understand this. To lose my son (my 1st born, my best friend. Lord let this be a dream… I feel like I’m crushed into a million pieces”
He also told Channel 2 Action News that they are still working on finalizing the funeral plans but he wanted to thank all of his son’s friends and fans for all of their support and prayers during this difficult time.
