Real Bad Man and TOBi Enlist Genevieve Artadi for New Joint – ‘Over The Moon’
Today, LA-based producer Real Bad Man and multi-JUNO Award winning artist TOBi combine to share an explosive, upbeat new single from their forthcoming collaborative album with “Over The Moon” featuring fellow Real Bad Man collaborator Genevieve Artadi. From its opening drum beats, the new single is a funk-laden surprise following the subtle production behind the duo’s lead single “When I’m Home”.
The song’s energy is meant to intentionally catch listeners by surprise when listening to the album in sequential order, providing a jolt of funk and a jam that’s dancefloor ready across the sonic variety that Real Bad Man and TOBi have set out to showcase with their collaboration.
“Over the Moon is like finding peace in the midst of chaos,” TOBi says of the song. “It’s a radical acceptance of whatever’s going on and just being like, yo, I’m just gonna keep enjoying my life, because my life is a lottery. Like, I’m blessed to be here. So, I’m over the moon”.
TOBi and Real Bad Man’s work together on The Perfect Blue encapsulates the producer’s mission for 2025, a year in which he released five intricate collaborative albums with a wide swath of collaborators. His work with TOBi is eclectic and boundless, jumping from straightforward and unflinchingly personal rap moments, to the flared funk of “Over the Moon” and R&B moments that prove the Toronto emcees dexterity to exist across each of those sounds and make them his own. The Perfect Blue initially begin as a straightforward rap record and through their chemistry in the studio, the album opened up their freedom to explore uncharted territory for them both.
Nigerian-born, Toronto-raised artist TOBi has carved out a distinct lane for himself with a celebrated discography of releases that explore themes of vulnerability, self-reflection and contemporary masculinity with a pointed nuance. His 2023 album PANIC swept the rap categories (Best Rap Album, Best Rap Single for “Someone I Knew”) at the 2024 JUNO Awards. Expanding on his ELEMENTS project series with the second volume released earlier this year to high praise, The Perfect Blue cements TOBi’s bonafides as an adept collaborator.
