Louisiana rapper Quadry announces Ask A Magnolia, his new album set for release on September 25th via Tierdrop Records. In conjunction with the album’s announcement, he shares new single/video “I’m Wrong?” featuring narrative vocals from British singer Celeste as well as production from Latrell James (JID, EARTHGANG, etc.) and Teo Halm (Rosalía, SZA, Beyoncé). The confessional song is written from the perspective of one of Quadry’s closest friends and details the events of the night in which he was kicked out of his childhood home, culminating in an altercation punctuated by gunfire. The song marks the second taste of Ask A Magnolia following “The Ghost of BrandyWine,” which the artist shared in July.
Ask A Magnolia catalogs the innocence and mayhem of Quadry’s adolescence growing up in Louisiana. The album and the stories told within are an attempt to preserve the memories of people and places that either no longer exist or exist primarily as relics of a bygone era — bootleg CD salesmen, Hurricane Katrina-era corner store conversations, drunk nights with friends and coming of age stories coalesce into a thrill-ride of a body of work. The album marks Quadry’s first full-length project since 2021’s They Think We Ghetto.
