Post Malone & Michael Bay Create New Graphic Novel With Vault Comics.
Post Malone and A Quiet Place Platinum Dune producers Michael Bay and Brad Fuller’s are partnering with Vault Comics to create an all-new IP universe based on an original story by the 8x diamond recording artist.
This continues a hot streak for Post Malone, who recently made history with the first ever RIAA-certified Double-Diamond single, mesmerized audiences with his pre-Super Bowl performance of “America the Beautiful” and had a role in Amazon MGM Studios’ Road House, which was the most viewed original film launch ever on Prime Video.
Blending elements of road thrillers like Mad Max: Fury Road, and demonic horror like Evil Dead, Post Malone‘s story is set in medieval Europe, where the only thing standing in the way of the horde of demons infesting the continent is a mysterious armored 18-wheeler seemingly sent back from the heavens.
“I’m so pumped to share this badass story with the world, and I couldn’t ask for better partners than Michael Bay and Vault to help bring this story to life,” Post Malone tells Deadline.
Working closely with Post Malone, Vault will launch the story first as a graphic novel, set for publication in 2025. Meanwhile, Post Malone, Platinum Dunes, and Vault will concurrently develop a feature film adaptation of the story.
“This is the kind of project you dream about,” said Vault CEO Damian Wassel. “We get to work with an exceptional artist at the top of his game to build a completely original story from the ground up. We have an iconic director helping to guide the creative development. We’re going to bring the world a mind-blowing graphic novel, and that’s just the beginning.”
“I love working with talented people, and Post Malone is incredibly gifted,” says Bay. “I am excited to work with him on such an intriguing idea, and when you add Vault to the mix, it raises the bar to another level. This new IP is just what the graphic world needs right now.”
The 8x diamond-certified Grammy award nominee recently released his fifth full-length record “Austin”. The album, self-titled after Post’s legal name, is yet another shift in sound for Post and features all live instrumentation produced by Post and his longtime collaborators Louis Bell and Andrew Watt. Last June, he received the Songwriters Hall of Fame “Hal Davis Starlight Award.” Last year, he garnered a Grammy Award nod in the category of “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for “I Like You (A Happier Song)” with Doja Cat, marking his tenth career nomination in six years.
Platinum Dunes has a big summer tentpole this year in Paramount’s prequel A Quiet Place: Day One opening on June 28.
