Logic Backs “Stop the Iron Pipeline” Initiative While Addressing Gun Violence In New Single.

Logic has released “Pipeline,” a groundbreaking new track that confronts one of America’s most pressing issues – gun violence and illegal gun trafficking. The powerful anthem features a guest verse from fellow Maryland hip-hop artist Oddisee and backing vocals from Resonate Baltimore, a Baltimore-area children’s choir, adding a powerful layer of local authenticity to the track and marking a poignant homecoming for the Maryland native.

“Pipeline” serves as the centerpiece of the “Stop the Iron Pipeline” initiative, launched by Maryland-based health system LifeBridge Health to raise awareness and inspire action around trafficking of illegal guns into Maryland and the impact of gun violence on individuals and communities. Traffickers bring these guns in from other states along Route I-95 – a major north-south corridor through the East Coast states known as the “Iron Pipeline.”

“Growing up in Maryland, I saw how gun violence tears apart families and communities—it’s an issue that hits close to home and feels deeply personal to me,” says Logic. “I contributed to this powerful project in the way I know best—through music and lyrics—telling the story of The Iron Pipeline and the impact it has. My hope is that this initiative helps create a better, safer future for the next generation.”

The track debuts alongside a gripping short film that follows the journey of illegal firearms along the Iron Pipeline. The visual narrative, produced in partnership with LifeBridge Health and creative agency StrawberryFrog, showcases Logic’s masterful storytelling abilities while highlighting a crucial social issue affecting his home state.

“Logic created an anthem that embodies the spirit of the mission and vividly articulates the societal impact of gun violence,” says StrawberryFrog’s Chief Creative Officer Tyler DeAngelo. “His authentic connection to the cause and ability to reach younger audiences makes this more than just a song—it’s a catalyst for change.”

For the streaming release of the track, Logic tapped fellow Maryland native hip-hop artist and producer Oddisee for a feature verse. Well-known and respected for promoting social activism in his music, Oddisee adds key personal perspective to the crucial issues raised in “Pipeline.”

Oddisee says, “It is well known that poverty and crime are linked. More emphasis is placed on the outcome of the combination than the cause when discussing how the two continue to impact our communities. Maryland ranks among the top states for trafficked guns. The Iron Pipeline initiative seeks to support legislation that could address the underlying issue at the root of the problem.”

“I’m privileged to have collaborated with Logic to produce a piece of art to aid the cause,” concludes Oddisee.

Sydney Ferleger, president of The Music Playground, which oversaw music supervision and video production, adds, “From the outset, we knew Logic was the ideal artist to champion this cause-his artistry and dedication to addressing critical social issues brought unparalleled depth and authenticity to the project.”

“Through the powerful connection of music, we saw a way to engage and energize people to join our effort to Stop the Iron Pipeline. We hope this movement can help community members come together, raise our voices and address the public health crisis of gun violence,” says Neil Meltzer, president and CEO of LifeBridge Health.

Additional background on the “why” behind Stop the Iron Pipeline: Firearms are the leading cause of death for kids and teens, according to Department of Health and Human Services. Maryland has among the nation’s highest rate of out-of-state illegal gun imports, accounting for two-thirds of all gun crimes in the state, according to the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Research from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health published in 2024 in JAMA Network Open concluded that “interstate gun transfers are a major contributor to gun crime, injury and death in the United States,” and in June 2024, the surgeon general declared firearm violence to be a public health crisis. In LifeBridge Health’s 2024 community health needs assessment, respondents named gun violence, neighborhood safety and gun safety among their top health-related concerns.
