GENA, the duo of Liv.e and Karriem Riggins, share KAYTRANADA’s remix of “Lead It Up”, one of the standout singles from the duo’s acclaimed debut album The Pleasure Is Yours, released earlier this year via Lex Records. The Montreal dance music icon transforms the honeyed soul of the original song into a sleek, futuristic dance track. GENA’s original version of “Lead It Up” was accompanied by a music video directed by Cam Hicks, starring Liv.e & Karriem, alongside Errol Chatham and Ajani Payne.

 

 

The Pleasure Is Yours served as the world’s introduction to GENA, a kinetic collaboration between two musical spirits and mischievously explores the contours of contemporary soul, R&B and hip-hop, guided by two masterful musicians in their own right. The album was critically acclaimed and celebrated upon its release and has landed on numerous Best of the Year (so far lists).

Following the album’s release, the duo set off on a headline US tour along with a series of festival dates including Montreal and Newport Jazz Festivals. The duo are currently in Europe on a run of UK tour dates, with shows in Leeds, Brighton, London and Manchester. This Fall, GENA will travel to Australia and New Zealand for headline shows, play additional festival sets at FORM, Le Guess Who and Camp Flog Gnaw and conclude the year with a series of shows at the historic Blue Note in both Los Angeles and New York City.
