Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, lands his 13th No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as BULLY storms in atop the list dated April 11. The set, released on YZY/gamma., begins with 152,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States for the tracking week of March 27 – April 2, according to Luminate.
The long-teased BULLY was released on March 27 via physical retail outlets and premiered on digital and streaming outlets the following day. During the tracking week of March 27-April 2, the album registered 96,000 units from streaming activity, equal to 98.43 million official on-demand streams of the project’s songs, a further 56,000 units from album sales and a negligible number of track-equivalent units. (One unit equals the following levels of consumption: one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 1,000 paid/subscription tier or 2,500 ad-supported tier of official on-demand audio and video streams for a song on the album.)
With BULLY, Ye adds his 13th No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and breaks from a tie with R. Kelly for sole possession of the fifth-most champs in the chart’s history, which dates to 1965. The Temptations lead the count, with 17 No. 1s, while Drake and Future (16 each) and JAY-Z (14) also rank ahead.
Here’s a rundown of Ye’s 13 leaders on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The list comprises all his charting entries except 2016’s The Life of Pablo, which peaked at No. 2.
