Slauson and Crenshaw Intersection to be Renamed ‘Nipsey Hussle Square’
The city of Los Angeles will be renaming the intersection at Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue after the late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
A sign ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.
The event will mark the official unveiling of Nipsey Hussle Square, commemorating the rapper’s influence, entrepreneurial spirit and deep connection to the community.
Nipsey often spoke about his life growing up in the Crenshaw District. In 2019, he was gunned down outside of his clothing store, Marathon Clothing, located near the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue.
The site holds deep significance, as the plaza remains family-owned and serves as the home of the Neighborhood Nip Foundation.
Guests will include Blacc Sam, Nipsey Hussle’s brother and CEO of The Marathon brand, and Los Angeles City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, councilmember Heather Hutt and California State Assemblymember Isaac Bryan.
