Frisco’s Karri Shares New Single “strip”

Continuing a run of dynamic releases this year, San Francisco’s Karri shares his new single “strip” via PFL (Playing For Legacy). A subdued and sultry departure from the direction of last month’s standout track – “Go” featuring Kehlani, reimagining E-40’s Hyphy classic “Tell Me When To Go” – the new single focuses in on the singular style of his vocals and the late-night confessional intimacy of contemporary R&B. “Strip”, the latest offering from Karri’s forthcoming EP, carries a hazy atmosphere throughout in its production, before the bass fizzles away to close with just Karri’s voice and an acoustic guitar.

At just 21-years-old, Karri has quickly established himself as a burgeoning new voice from the West Coast in modern R&B. His early releases, all nods to his home region, built up a rabid fanbase. 2023’s “3AM in Oakland” went viral on TikTok, and he expanded his sound with his 2024 EP Late Nite Slider Music, before opening up 2025 being hailed by Billboard as their R&B Rookie of the Month.

Bookended with his forthcoming EP, 2025 has been a meticulous period of growth for Karri, releasing “Oakland Baby” with Isaiah Falls following a US tour run alongside Isaiah. He also performed at Wireless Festival in London, joining artists like Odeal, Sailor, Leon Thomas, KWN and more. He collaborated with Goapele on “Suede”, a track from P-Lo’s From the Soil album made with Karri’s hometown Golden State Warriors for NBA All-Star Weekend. All of Karri’s work honing his craft in the leadup to his forthcoming new project includes diversifying his sound through juxtaposed song releases like “fmyx” and “dirty diana”, as well as working with Soulection’s Joe Kay on “Hesitation” and acclaimed producer Jack Dine (SAILORR, Masego, Alex Isley) on “Cheeky”.
