Playboi Carti’s “I AM MUSIC” is leading 2025 in terms of rap music sales, becoming the first rap album of 2025 to sell one million units in the US. This makes the record eligible for platinum certification from the RIAA.

The album, which was released on March 14, 2025, reached this milestone just three months after its debut, which was also the biggest opening for a rap project this year with 300,000 first-week sales, according to Billboard. This accomplishment solidifies “I AM MUSIC” as a major success in Carti’s career.

Playboi Carti is currently touring with The Weeknd. He’s been opening for the pop star on the presumptive final North American leg of his tour, which has lasted for over three years now.
