Rod Wave Arrested in Georgia on Aggravated Assault and Gun Charges, Released on Bond.

Rod Wave has been arrested in Georgia on charges of aggravated assault, possession and aiming a gun at someone.

The Florida native, born Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested May 20 on 14 charges, according to Fulton County, Georgia, online arrest records. He was booked in the Fulton County jail and released on bond the same day.

The charges are related to an alleged April 21 incident, and include simple assault, reckless conduct, damaging property, obstructing law enforcement, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit a felony.

In a statement on May 21, Wave’s attorneys called the charges “incomprehensible.”

“There is no truth to these charges,” read the statement. “Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favorably to Mr. Green.”

In the incident report, Wave and his girlfriend are listed as victims of an April 21 burglary at their Georgia home. Milton County Police officers were dispatched to a home in response to a domestic dispute where “neighbors were yelling and screaming outside.” An officer encountered a woman crying, who told the officer that upon returning home from out of town that night, she found their home burglarized.

Officers found a broken window, an emptied safe in the basement, bullet casings on the stairs leading up to the driveway, a gold Mercedes-Benz G Wagon riddled with bullets and a black Rolls-Royce with one bullet hole. A black handgun was also found on the scene.

The woman told officers Wave was not home but planned to return the next day. It is unclear how the incident relates to Wave’s charges.

The 26-year-old breakout hip-hop singer is known for hit songs “Street Runner,” “Tombstone” and “25.” He recently contributed to the “Sinners” soundtrack for its lead single of the same name.

Wave has also matched records set by Taylor Swift. In 2023, the two were the only musical acts to release a new chart-topping solo album in each of the previous three years. His 2024 album “Last Lap” also made him the only artist other than Swift to chart a top 10 album in each year from 2019 to 2024.

Earlier this year, he made headlines for canceling a string of shows on his Last Lap Tour. S: USA Today
