With the jury set, opening statements in A$AP Rocky’s Los Angeles felony assault trial begins Friday, and the public are able to watch it live.
The Associated Press and Court TV are livestreaming A$AP Rocky’s assault trial, starting at 1 p.m. EST Friday (Jan 24).
The 12-person jury in A$AP Rocky’s trial is made up of seven women and five men. There are no Black jurors, which was a concern of A$AP Rocky’s legal team during jury selection. They noted that of the 106 people pooled for the jury, only five of them were Black. Al Sharpton also spoke out about the lack of Black people in the jury pool for the trial, given the demographic makeup of Los Angeles.
What is A$AP Rock Charged With? A$AP Rocky, 36, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
