Warner Records has appointed Jason Heller senior vp of business & legal affairs, the label announced today (Aug. 13).
Heller joins Warner from RCA Records, where he worked with the likes of Childish Gambino, Khalid and Miley Cyrus as vp, business & legal affairs. In his new New York-based role, he’ll report to Warner Records executive vp and head of business & legal affairs Julian Petty.
“Jason is a tremendous addition to our new team at Warner Records,” Petty shared. “Over the past 17 years, both in the label world and in private practice, he’s helped forge agreements with artists at every level of development, from up-and-coming talent to superstars. I’ve negotiated against him on several deals throughout the years and witnessed his legal prowess firsthand. Jason has a fantastic reputation across the music and legal communities, and I’m very happy that he’s come on board to help us make Warner the place where artists’ rights are fiercely protected and their dreams are realized.”
Before joining RCA in 2007, Heller also served as an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, where he specialized in intellectual property law and represented major record companies and publishers.
A graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School, Heller is the latest addition to the rebranded Warner Records, with its evolution led by co-chairmen Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Warner Records at this transformational moment in the company’s history,” Heller adds. “Tom and Aaron are developing an incredible roster and building on the label’s amazing legacy, and I’m excited to be part of the action. It’s a dynamic time to be part of this business, in which the possibilities for artists and their music are endless. I want to thank Julian for giving me this wonderful new opportunity.” Source: Billboard
