Rising Detroit Rapper Nasaan Partners with ESPN & The NBA for New Music With Royce 5’9”
Detroit’s emerging rap sensation, NASAAN, marks his return with the release of “GOATED” (featuring Royce 5’9”). In an unprecedented move for a developing artist, NASAAN partners with ESPN and The NBA for a four-month licensing deal to use “GOATED” for the playoffs and any NBA property.
The song coincides with the 18th anniversary of his father Proof’s passing–a revered figure in Detroit’s music scene.
NASAAN directed and edited the rap video himself. In a nostalgic nod, NASAAN recreates the iconic MTV News freestyle session that immortalized his father and Eminem and garnered over 50 million impressions across various platforms. (see below)
NASAAN, who recently toured with JID and Smino on their “Luv is 4Ever Tour 2023,” continues to honor the legacy of his late father, D12 founder, and frontman Big Proof, while forging his own path in the rap industry. With talents spanning production, rapping, directing, and editing, NASAAN distinguishes himself with uniquely crafted music videos that have earned praise from rap icons like Eminem and Busta Rhymes. “ERROR 404” pays homage to Detroit’s vibrant music scene while acknowledging NASAAN’s roots in Atlanta, his childhood home. Through his upcoming project, NASAAN is set to make his mark in 2024, leaving behind the era of being undiscovered.
