ON DECK: 50 Cent To Develop Unscripted Series On The Twins Who Brought Down El Chapo
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television, in partnership with Lionsgate’s Pilgrim Media Group, is set to develop an unscripted series titled ‘The Twins’ for BET Media Group. The series delves into the intriguing story of the Flores brothers, Margarito and Pedro, identical twins who rose to become multimillionaire cocaine kingpins by the age of 18, eventually aiding in the capture of notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
‘The Twins’ series is designed as a companion to 50 Cent’s acclaimed podcast, ‘Surviving El Chapo: The Twins Who Brought Down A Drug Lord.’ Produced by Lionsgate Sound and G-Unit Audio, the podcast is currently in its second season.
After their arrest, Margarito and Pedro Flores opted to cooperate with the DEA, leading to the downfall of El Chapo. Following 14 years in prison, they were released in 2022 under the witness protection program. Margarito Flores has since embraced a lawful life, recently leading a seminar titled “From Kingpin to Educator” for law enforcement in Kane County, Illinois. Meanwhile, updates on Pedro Flores remain unavailable. El Chapo is serving a life sentence without parole in a Colorado supermax prison.
‘The Twins’ marks the latest venture for G-Unit Film & Television, following their collaboration on the bilingual crime drama series ‘Prey Before You Eat.’ Additional projects in the pipeline include the unscripted tattoo transformation series ‘Redemption Ink’ with Hulu, the animated series ‘Lady Danger’ with Nicki Minaj for Amazon’s Freevee, and the untitled action drama with Lionsgate Television and Paramount +, directed by Chad Stelheski.
