METALFLOWERZ aka Walasia “MJ” Shabazz is a music business veteran with over 35 years in the industry. She began producing music in her 20s as a co-producer with MF DOOM and has studied Hip Hop production under many legendary producers of many eras including Def Jef, DJ Khalil, A-Plus of Hieroglyphics, DJ Muggs, Grammy winner DJ Khalil, BigDaddyChop and many more.

She began making beats in earnest in 2021, and dropped her debut self-titled LP in September 2024. Daughter of Free Jazz innovator Buell Neidlinger, she began singing, songwriting and playing keys at the age of 5 and has been entrenched in the Hip Hop culture and scene since the early 1980s. METALFLOWERZ’ production style can’t be genrefied, and you’ll find heavy influences of Jazz, Bebop, Soul, Deep Gospel, Folk and Classical in her work.
