Rapper Lil Poppa (real name Janarious Wheeler) has died at age 25 in Fulton County, Georgia, officials announced Wednesday.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the death of Janarious Wheeler, the real name of the Jacksonville, Florida-based rapper. The manner and cause of Wheeler’s death remain under investigation.
Wheeler grew up in Jacksonville and signed to Yo Gotti’s label in 2022. Two of his albums made the Billboard 200 in his career.
The news comes just days after the release of his new single “Out of Town Bae.” Lil Poppa was signed to Memphis rapper Yo Gotti’s record label, Collective Music Group (CMG). He was scheduled to perform in New Orleans next month.
