Eminem to Open MTV’s VMAs

Eminem is set to open the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, the network announced Monday. The 13-time VMA winner is also rumored to perform with LL Cool J during the show and perform their new single “Murdergram Deux” from LL’s latest album.

Megan Thee Stallion will host the show, which airs live on Wednesday, September 11th at 8 p.m. ET/PT from New York’s UBS Arena.

Eminem is up for eight awards at the show, including Artist of the Year, and his visual for “Houdini” is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, Song of Summer, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing and Best Direction. Eminem is also nominated for the VMAs Most Iconic Performance award for his appearance on the show in 2000, when he performed “The Real Slim Shady” and “The Way I Am” alongside an army of Eminem lookalikes.

Eminem is a two-time winner for Video of the Year, for “The Real Slim Shady” (2000) and “Without Me” (2002), and he’s been nominated in the category a record eight times. D12’s “My Band” was also up for Video of the Year in 2004.
