Satya Releases Blues & Jazz Inspired Debut Album ‘Yellow House’ via Giant Music
Today, Los Angeles-bound, Oakland native Satya released her debut record Yellow House via Giant Music Distribution. Yellow House arrived following years of fine-dialing that saw Satya selling out hometown shows, sharing stages with industry giants from Macy Gray to Jason Isbell, and moving across the country numerous times in pursuit of music. A reflective collection of work navigating childhood trauma and recovery, written during her time in New Orleans, the debut album was recorded in Nashville and produced by Colin Linden (Keb’ Mo’, T Bone Burnett).
Yellow House had already charmed a wide array of critics prior to its release. Traversing between genres, Satya brilliantly blends soul, jazz, folk and americana to present an honest, mesmerizing body of work. Highlights of the record include the exhilarating opening track “Project 10,” the tenderly layered title track “Yellow House,” as well as the drowsy, indulgently-Southern album closer “Cicadas.”
Yesterday, June 4, 2026, Atwood Magazine hosted a premiere of the album with an in-depth interview with Satya, praising the artist by saying “Listeners drawn to the smoky soul of Nina Simone, the folky neo-soul ease of Lauryn Hill, the soft-focus intimacy of Corinne Bailey Rae, and the sensual restraint of Rhye will find familiar warmth here, but Satya’s world ultimately moves according to its own rhythm.” Check out the premiere + interview here.
“Yellow House is raw and deeply personal, tracing my journal entries over the past several years,” said Satya regarding the album.
“This album is dedicated to my inner child. It reflects on what it meant to grow up in an abusive household, and the duality of holding both unconditional love and pain. It explores the inner world I lived in as a child—honoring the darker parts of myself and what I witnessed growing up, and how I carried that pain with me while coming of age.
I began writing the album at the start of 2020, and for the last couple of years I went back and forth about how to share it with the world. It never felt completely finished until now—but this year, I realized it was time to release both the album, and the version of myself it represents.
My wish is that this work offers connection, release, strength and healing—to myself, and to anyone who listens.”
