Gregory Jackson Jr. Appointed President of Quavo’s Rocket Foundation.

As reported by Variety, Quavo officially named Gregory Jackson Jr. as the new president of the Rocket Foundation –  a nonprofit launched in Takeoff’s honor to address gun violence in underserved communities.

“It’s been one year since our visit to Washington, DC, where we worked alongside longstanding advocates and survivors of gun violence to bring awareness to gun violence prevention, discussed solutions with Vice President Kamala Harris and lawmakers in congress, and supported the historic launch of the White House’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention led by Rob Wilcox and our friend, partner and survivor, Greg Jackson.

Since then, this office has made incredible progress and is now seeing the biggest reductions in gun violence in American history.

We are proud to shout them out at their one year anniversary and are grateful to be working with them in honor and in celebration of Takeoff’s legacy, and for everyone out there wanting to see change.”

“No family should suffer tragedy or trauma from gun violence like the family of Takeoff endured, but sadly over 40,000 do each year,” Jackson said. “The courage of Quavo, Titania, Edna and the entire family has been a true inspiration to me. It’s an honor to lead this foundation’s efforts to make our communities safer and honor the legacy of Takeoff.”

Quavo added: “I am thrilled to have Greg lead the charge for Rocket. He is a longstanding partner of the organization and our persistent work to end gun violence. I know my foundation and Takeoff’s legacy are in good hands with him.”

About: The Rocket Foundation was founded by Quavo in 2022 to honor the life and legacy of Kirsnick Khari Ball, and is committed to ending gun violence in America. We uplift and invest in interventions that effectively reduce community violence so communities can thrive.

Kirsnick Khari Ball, known to many as Takeoff, was an American rapper. He was Quavo’s nephew, and the youngest member of the iconic rap group, Migos. On November 1st, 2022, Takeoff was shot and killed as a bystander near a violent confrontation in Houston, TX. As his family and community mourned his passing, they committed to turning his death into a moment of reckoning and mobilization to address the gun violence crisis in U.S. cities. Founded by Quavo, The Rocket Foundation will cement Takeoff’s legacy as a lasting force for good in neighborhoods and for families impacted by gun violence.

While The Rocket Foundation is on a mission to end gun violence all across the country, we’re starting our work in Atlanta for a reason. Atlanta is among the top U.S. cities affected by gun violence, but its community violence intervention programs are underfunded relative to other major cities. Our goal is to help close that gap, and to go beyond by making Atlanta a model for other U.S. cities when it comes to gun violence reduction. Atlanta is also the city where Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset founded their rap group, Migos. Takeoff loved Atlanta, and the feeling was mutual. There’s no better place to launch this critical, life-saving work in his honor.
