Soulja Boy was arrested early Sunday in Los Angeles after police say they found a firearm during a traffic stop.
According to the LAPD, officers pulled over a vehicle around 2:35 a.m. near Melrose Avenue and North Genesee Avenue. One of the passengers, identified as DeAndre Cortez Way — better known as the “Crank That” rapper Soulja Boy — was arrested on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Police did not share details about what prompted the stop or who else may have been in the vehicle. Additional information about the firearm was not immediately available.
Soulja Boy is best known for his 2007 breakout hit “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” and other tracks like “Turn My Swag On” and “Kiss Me thru the Phone.”
He’s also made headlines in recent months for legal troubles. In April, a jury ordered him to pay $4 million in a sexual battery case. S: KTLA
