Vevo announces the release of Ovrkast.’s DSCVR performance of “I’m On” from his new album, While The Iron Is Hot. “I’m On” follows Ovrkast.’s previously released DSCVR performance of “6AM.”
Ovrkast. is a lyricist and producer from East Oakland, CA by way of the Bay Area. Inspired by the likes of Knxwledge., Odd Future, Capital Steez, and Flying Lotus, his sound is a delicate balance between soulful and minimalistic. Ovrkast. built his original fanbase organically, using social media and Discord to drum up listener hype and leading to early cosigns from Earl Sweatshirt and superproducer Cardo. A chance listen to Joey Bada$$’s 1999 track, “Killuminati” with Capital Steez sparked an interest in production, and eventually led to production credits for Drake in “Red Button” and “The Shoe Fits.”
“I’m On” and “6AM” are both standout tracks from Ovrkast.’s new album, While The Iron Is Hot. The LP spans 13 tracks and includes features from Vince Staples, Samara Cyn, Saba, MAVI and more. “It took a loooooooong time to get to this point. I had to go through an immense amount of change, loss and again to receive the clarity and focus in order to create an album like this,” he explains, “It’s my favorite piece of work so far and I spent a lot of time on it.
