Donald Glover x “Atlanta” Dominate 2018 Emmy Nominations

The 2018 Emmy award nominations are in. Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) received nominations for acting, writing, and directing for his acclaimed FX series “Atlanta.” Among his nominations is Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He’ll be up against himself in Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, for the episodes “FUBU” and “Teddy Perkins.”

The show is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, and two of its episodes—“Alligator Man” (written by Glover) and “Barbershop” (written by Stefani Robinson)—received nominations in the category for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. The episode “Alligator Man” is also nominated for Outstanding Music Supervision. Brian Tyree Henry, who plays Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles, is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Glover is also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” where he was both the host and musical guest.

Last year, Glover won two Emmys: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. This made Glover the first black director in history to take home the honor. The show was recently renewed for its third season.
