The 2019 BET Awards went down last night (June 23) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by actress Regina King.

For this year’s Lifetime Achievement award, Mary J Blige was honored by Rihanna. After a tribute to the Queen of Hip Hop & Soul, MJB performed a medley of her classic hits and brought out special guests Lil’ Kim (“I Can Love You Better”) and Method Man (“All I Need”).

The legacy and philanthropy of late rapper Nipsey Hussle was also honored with this year’s Humanitarian award. After his family accepted the award on his behalf, his music was recognized. Marsha Ambrosius performed a heartfelt tribute with “Real Big” followed by YG – “Last Time That I Checc’d”. Khaled and John Legend opened the pearly gates for “Higher” and then kept the celebration going with Meek Mill and Jeremih with “Weather The Storm” and “You Stay”.
